Over 100 incredible women gathered in a field for a weekend of fun, friendship, and fabulousness – Hollywood style! From glitz and glam to laughter and sparkle, this event had it all.
This is what WI life looks like — unforgettable moments, amazing company, and a sprinkle of star power.
Our Admin team from the Leisure for Pleasure committee were Alia el Asmar (lead), Helen Tyrrell, Karin Snape, Lyn Jones, Liz Robertson and Wendy Morris. Sadly Lyn and Liz were unable to make camp. Amanda Thomas was also our photographer with Alia and Wendy who are also on the Website and Social Media Committee.
It’s always a special occasion when Federations come together. We were delighted to welcome Selina Prescott, Chair of Cheshire Federation of WIs , and Heather Williams, Chair of Lancashire Federation of WI .
Members had the wonderful opportunity to hear Selina and Heather share their journeys into Federation roles, and reflect on how their Federations — while neighbours — are both similar and unique in their own ways.
Lyn, on the Admin team was instrumental in creating every piece of artwork, mostly life size, that made our home for the weekend look extra special.
Our certificate winners were super proud.
Fancy dress was optional… but WOW, did our fabulous members deliver!
Our craft competition depicting films was incredibly tough to judge — the talent was truly exceptional!
A huge congratulations to Gillian Sturgess for her stunning Beauty and the Beast sugar craft rose, and to Jayne Blythin for her beautiful lace work depicting Watership Down. Both were so outstanding, they shared the first prize!
We asked our members transform an egg into a movie character!
Alison Allcock from Great Moor & District WI absolutely nailed it with her amazing Nimo from Finding Nemo!
We’re sure you’ll agree that all the entries are fantastic
And our craft activities were fabulous thanks to our members offering to show others what was possible. We are hoping that members will take back what they have learnt to their WIs.
We also had a build your own ice cream sundae with sprinkles.
And a cream tea with a quiz devised by Liz. Our cram and jam were generously provide by the Cream Tea Association in support of the Women’s Refuge.
