Today is World Rivers Day. The day recognises the importance of rivers and their role in ecosystems, agriculture, and industry. It also promotes public awareness and participation in efforts to protect waterways worldwide.
It’s also the NFWI Week of River Action. Members from across the Federation came together at the River Dee in Chester today to highlight the poor state of our rivers across the Federation and beyond.
Melissa Green, Cheif Executive – NFWI states ‘ WI members care greatly about our environment and are passionate about putting an end to the disastrous pollution of our rivers. Since our’ Clean Rivers’ campaign was launched by members at our Annual Meeting last year, the WI has been busy calling for stronger regulators, promoting bathing water designations and making waves in their communities ‘.
Thank you to the Public Affairs Committee for organising Cheshire Federation of WIs call for action.
