Here are some reflective notes about the event from one of our members in the Federation.

  • It was a fantastic experience sharing the day with so many women with one thing in common – The WI
  • Our WI is part of a bigger organisation and I need to learn more about the organisation as a whole, it’s so easy to focus on our own activities and skim over what’s happening elsewhere
  • National have recognised that we must change if we are to survive and are looking at this – our WI is not the ‘norm’ for WI’s and hopefully one day we will be the ‘norm’ because everyone else has caught up with us.
  • I need to be better informed about the resolutions, the speakers, proposer and seconder and the women who talked about their or their families experience brought the resolution to life. They were amazing women.
  • We get great value for our membership, some of the women sat around us were in awe of how much that is on offer to us.
  • There are prizes!– maybe next year it will be us up there receiving a trophy
  • Be prepared for the queues and the numb bum from sitting on those awful seats!
  • Be prepared to meet some wonderful, friendly women.

It was a fantastic experience, and one member was right when she said I would come back full of enthusiasm, I have! If you have thought about going to the Annual Meeting before and haven’t made it yet go, you won’t regret it. Next years is in Cardiff and maybe there will be enough of us so we’ll need a minibus to get there
