Just a little peek at some of the highlights of Cheshire Federation of WIs meeting today at Nunsmere with over 400 delegates and member guests. Our speakers were:
– the Lord Mayor of Chester Councillor Sherin Akhtar. She is the 808th person to hold this historic role and the first British Asian and first Muslim woman wearing a hijab to become the Lord Mayor of Chester. She was warm, funny and enlightening and she was pleased to announce that she intends to join Upton WI.
– Will Kirk, a furniture restorer has spent the last nine years on The Repair Shop restoring and repairing treasured items. He spoke about his early life, those who inspired him and highlights of the show. A kind, funny and generous guest who spent lots of time with the members.
Frodsham members Lorraine signed Jerusalem for us. She attend the BSL sessions on the WI Learning Hub and did a super job.
As this was our Annual Meeting some time was given to business, certificate presentation and announcements.
We hope that our members enjoyed the day as much as we did.
