As part of Staffordshire’s Centenary celebrations they challenged Cheshire to a bowls match. This took place on Monday 16th September at Florence Bowls and Tennis Club in Stoke on Trent. Cheshire were represented by Pat Ingram Marion Taylor and Sue Benson of Jodrell Side W I and Liz Hudson Dorothy Moss and Joan Pugh of Smallwood W I. We were very warmly welcomed by Jenny Crump from Staffordshire. We played two singles matches and two doubles matches in a very amicable atmosphere and the result was an honourable draw!! Cheshire are to hold the trophy for six months and then pass it to Staffordshire. Our Chairman Jean Harding then thanked the Staffordshire ladies for their hospitality. We intend to have a return match next year and if possible continue the matches on a yearly basis
