A Little Bit About Us
Cheshire Federation of Women’s Institutes (CFWI), established in 1920, is one of the largest Federation in the country with around 200 WI’s covering Cheshire, South Manchester, Warrington and Wirral.
It is part of the largest voluntary organisation in the UK – the National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI) which has over 180,000 members in England, Wales and the Islands with its main objectives being to further the education and welfare of women within its charitable status. The organisation is non-sectarian and non-party political. Joining a Women’s Institute (WI) enables you to benefit from having your voice heard and making a real impact.
The Cheshire WI offers the opportunity to learn and pass on new skills, campaign for change both locally and nationally, make friends, work as a team and enjoy various events. Within Cheshire Federation each WI is part of a Group with between six and twelve other WI’s. This is a fabulous opportunity to get to know your neighbouring WI’s, share ideas and enjoy joint activities and make a bigger impact locally. Members are at the heart of the WI and inspire change whilst respecting our founding values. Anyone who identifies as female, over the age of 18, is welcome to join regardless of sexual preference or orientation and each WI will have members of diverse ages, backgrounds and interests.
Why not go as a guest to one or two monthly meetings before choosing the right one for you? We love people visiting (may require a small charge) and with over 200 WI’s in our Federation and six thousand WI’s nationally there are plenty to choose from. The WI hold traditional values with a modern twist. Why not take a look? Please get in touch if you would like some more information.
