Minty and Ann Brooks talking to Sybil Graham

Minty’s mother was a member of Middle Woodford WI in Wiltshire and when the speaker let them down she asked Minty to speak about the ‘Dangers in the Home’ as she was working in a Nursing Home prior to starting her nursing training.

In 1961 when Minty moved to Over Peover she joined the WI.  The membership was very small and no one else would join the committee so she got involved straight away and was soon secretary.  Over the years Minty has been President, Vice President, Secretary and committee member of Over Peover WI but never Treasurer.

Minty has also been Group Chairman of the Knutsford Group and a committee member of the Cheshire Federation.

Minty helped to stage the WI marquee at Cheshire Show for many years and can still be seen at the show each year.  She was also an active member of the combined arts subcommittee taking part in the county drama productions.  She was stage manager for productions of plays and pantomimes at Winsford.

Minty represented the Federation on the Cheshire Agricultural Society committee as well as serving on the sports committee taking part in the tennis, swimming and darts competitions.

Minty organised a Wind Surfing day at Mouldsworth and enjoyed gardening lessons at Tatton from Sam Youdd.  She then became a volunteer at Tatton Park for many years and was invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Bucking Palace for her help at Tatton.
