On Wednesday the 13th January we have the pleasure in welcoming Clare Pooley. Over 200 members joined us to be inspired by Clare’s story from alcoholism and breast cancer. She was honest and upbeat.  The Q & A was wonderful as usual followed by a Vote of Thanks from Vivien Lee, WI Advisor and Woodford WI member.
Clare graduated from Newnham College, Cambridge and spent twenty years in the heady world of advertising before becoming a full-time mum.
Realising that her ‘wine o’clock’ habit had spiralled out of control, Clare started writing a blog, Mummy was a Secret Drinker, which has had nearly three million hits. Her memoir, The Sober Diaries was published in 2017 to critical acclaim.
Clare’s debut novel – The Authenticity Project, was inspired by her own experience of exposing the rather grubby truth about her own seemingly
perfect life, and is being published in twenty-nine territories in 2020.
Message from Clare
What a fabulous bunch of ladies! I really enjoyed it, thanks so much for asking me!
Apologies for leaving abruptly! I had a phone call from New York. It was from my editor saying I’d made the New York Times Bestseller List! Talk about a dream come true!
I’m so impressed by the work that you’re doing – those events are a lifeline for so many in these difficult times.
Best wishes,
Clare
