On Friday 25th October 2019 – 52 members travelled to Denman for a weekend of learning, fun and relaxation. After settling into their room tea and cake was the introduction to the delicious food enjoyed throughout the weekend, which included trout, beef bourguignon and guinea fowl as well as a wide range of salads and vegetables not to mention the puddings. Courses started after dinner and by 9pm some willow fish were taking shape, others had learned to roll clay or what sources were available on line for family research. Saturday dawned grey and by the time the walkers set off it was raining but they all returned in good spirits having walked Greenham Common and seen an unusually high number of different fungi. The ladies taking The Alexander Technique course were all moving more easily by lunch time and found time to compose a song for the evening entertainment. We have some very talented members who sang, played and read items on Saturday evening before all settled to a quiet end to the day. Perversely, Sunday was a bright sunny day so the walkers had a morning stroll round Marcham area. Others worked furiously to finish silver jewellery, willow creatures and family trees while the Alexander Technique ladies learnt how to walk up and down stairs, as well as how to sit in an armchair and rise from it. At coffee time many sampled the latest Winter Salads. The coach was packed for the journey home with cool boxes of salads, lists of family members, items of jewellery and lots of willow creatures as well as the happy ladies. We all enjoyed the weekend.
Thank you to all for taking part, giving help when needed and having fun.
Lyn Hand CFWI Denman Ambassador.
