The Royal Cheshire Show is a highlight of the Cheshire Federation Calendar and is an opportunity for members of institutes from all over the federation to come together.
Members of many institutes were in evidence at the Show either demonstrating their talents in the different classes or helping out on the day.
Members had the opportunity to be judges’ stewards on the Monday and so got an advance look at all the entries and could see first hand how the judgng takes place. Perhaps they will go on to do the Judges’ training themselves? Other members helped out by doing a stewarding shift, taking responsibility for the exhibits in a class and answering queries from the public. Others enjoyed serving on the fast food section or in the main food area and others worked on the production line decorating and cutting up the cakes provided by members or behind the scenes preparing sandwich fillings and salads.
Members were also helping run the demonstration area, the Archives, Public Affairs, ACWW and Membership Displays. NFWI Raffle tickets sold out!
There really is something for everyone to get involved in and needn’t take up more than a few hours of your day. Of course our Federation Trustees and Cheshire Federation committee members are hard at work on our behalf before, during and after the show and our 2018 WI Marquee really was a highlight of the Cheshire Show and a destination point for visitors, WI members or not.
If you haven’t entered the competition before, do have a look at the classes for 2019 when they are announced later this year and do consider helping out at next year’s show as it is lovely to see how members from all over the federation work together to bring about such a wonderful show. A great networking event too, friendships are made and ideas shared. Here’s to bigger and better 2019!
