Good Afternoon,
I hope this email finds you well.
NEW! Me, Myself & WI
On behalf of the NFWI Activities Committee, I’m pleased to write and announce details of an exciting new activity taking place in May for WI members – Me, Myself and WI.
The objective of this activity is to encourage members to take time to look at their own mental health and physical wellbeing, making time to put themselves first and recognise ways in which they can make small adjustments to their daily life and to help improve their understanding of the importance of taking care of their mind and body. We feel strongly that the objectives of Me, Myself and WI fit beautifully in support and recognition of the National Mental Health Awareness week (hosted by MIND), starting on the 10 May 2021. As such, Me, Myself and WI will offer a week of activities to encourage members to take a step out of their normal routine and take some time to focus on themselves and their wellbeing.
Please find attached an advert which gives an outline of the week plus the Me, Myself and WI logo, which will be used during the lead up to and throughout the week, so that members can easily associate activities with the event.
In addition to the above, we would like members to engage with us, and one another, by sharing the following…
- Any music or songs they feel has helped them lift their spirits throughout lock down; we will use the recommendations to create a Feel Good Playlist that will be accessible via You Tube.
- Any series or programme recommendations that have been particularly enjoyable; these will be used to create a WI Watchlist for members.
- Inspirational quotes that can be used to create an Inspirational Quote of the Day on our social media platforms every day throughout the week.
Please send recommendations to [email protected] by 10 April 2021.
Further details regarding activities taking place during Me, Myself & WI will be released in the coming week. In the meantime, we would appreciate your support in cascading this email to your WIs and fellow members.
Competitions – Dual Membership
A query regarding members holding dual memberships entering national competitions has recently been brought to our attention. To clarify…
It is recommend that should a member, with a dual membership, wishes to enter a national competition, then she must decide which WI she is entering under and remain loyal to that WI; it would be inappropriate and unfair if the dual member contributes to one or more WI competition entries, therefore she may only enter under one WI.
Please note that all future national competition schedules will be amended to include this guidance. If you have any queries regarding this, please contact Helen Neal, Activities Officer on [email protected].
Walking Netball Returns to Court!
In line with government guidance, Walking Netball can officially resume on the 29 March 2021. England Netball and the NFWI have been working closely with all WN Hosts to ensure everyone understands guidelines and Covid protocols and most importantly, feels confident, safe and ready to return.
The majority of WN teams are eager to play again, however we are very conscious that there are some who still hold reservations and would prefer to take things more slowly. This is perfectly acceptable and both England Netball and the NFWI will do what we can to reassure and work alongside these WIs. In the meantime, we would like to clarify a query which keeps being raised by members regarding insurance…
Whatever insurance the WI had in place prior to lockdown remains, however, it is strongly recommended that WIs contact their insurance provider to 1) make them aware of their plans to return to play and 2) to ensure adequate cover is in place for all eventualities (some providers may require WIs to take out an additional cover for covid). England Netball and the NFWI encourage all WN WI teams to return to play providing they follow all guidance set by the governing body (England Netball, with support from the NFWI). WIs should be aware that if they decide to not follow this guidance, any potential accident insurance claims may be deemed null and void.
If you have any queries regarding Walking Netball or returning to court, please contact [email protected]
All information within this email will be shared on social media and My WI; if you have any queries, please contact [email protected]. Thank you for your ongoing support.
With best wishes,
Emma Harker
