1800 members and guests enjoyed a wonderful service of celebration for 100 years of the National Federation and 95 years of Cheshire Federation in the Cathedral in Chester on the morning of Wednesday 18 November.
The day dawned blustery and showery but the weather kept fine for the service.
The Lord Lieutenant, Mayors of Cheshire East and Cheshire West and the President of Cheshire Agricultural Society were among the guests along with members from neighbouring Federations.
The choir of 120 members conducted by Joyce Kirkpatrick led the singing and also entertained the members to choral pieces with Sandra Perrin singing the solo to The Holy City.
Canon Jeremy Dussek welcomed everyone to the Cathedral. The Rev Jane Parry, Rural Dean of Knutsford gave the address and Rev Veronica Green led the prayers.
The officers of the Federation read poems written by members.
We almost raised the roof when we rose to sing Jerusalem at the end of the service.
